When your home switches to digital will depend on where you live in the UK.
Greater Manchester has already switched to Digital.
There are several ways that you can get a digital TV signal:
- Through a TV aerial, (freeview, Top Up Tv etc)
- Through a satellite dish: (Sky, Freesat from Sky) or
- Through a cable: (NTL, Virgin, Telewest etc)
Not all options are available in all areas and some areas will not be able to get digital TV through an
aerial (Freeview) until after switch over. |
Please call us on 0161 327 4238 and we will advise you about your options to get the best out of the new Digital TV |
To get digital you will then need to choose what to do with your TV set:
- Convert your exsisting TV set, this is done by plugging in a digital reciever box into the back of the TV set or
- Take the choice to buy a new digital TV which will let you recieve digital TV through an aerial (Freeveiw), if it is available in your area.
If you share an aerial with other households, ie. Apartment, then you may have a communal system. If so, this will need to be adapted to receive digital television.
Whether you need a new TV aerial is hard to predict. Generally, if you get good analogue picture at the moment you will probably be ok after switch over.
If you have more than 1 TV set in your home, you will need to make sure that every set in your home that you want to watch TV broadcasts can recieve a digital signal. |
